Who is  The Master Dancers?

The Master Dancers is a social dance club dedicated to promoting
and preserving dances unique to the urban community: Hand
Dance, Strand, Off-Time, Line Dances, and Detroit Ballroom. To
that aim we coordinate free dance classes twice weekly and an
annual cabaret dance.

MasterDancers.com is a site put together to give our members
and friends information about our group and our fellow groups.

Free Dance Classes
Since the first class began in 1997 at the Lawton Street Community
Center, neighborhood response has steadily grown. To accommodate
the large classes, a second location was chosen.
Dance classes are
Tuesdays at the V.F.W. 1474 Copley Rd. at 7:30P.M. To 10:00P.M. and
Thursdays at the Lawton Street Community Center, 1225 Lawton St.
from 6:30 P.M. to 8:30 P.M.

Conducting additional classes through our community outreach
program has involved Buchtel H.S. JROTC, The African-American
Festival, Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., City of Akron Hardesty Park,
and many other organizations.

The Master Dancers is also oriented toward charitable community
service. Monetary contributions are given to the V.F.W. annually.
children’s Halloween party. Grocery items are donated for full-course
holiday meals at Thanksgiving and Christmas. Toys and gifts are
distributed to neighborhood children at Christmas.

The Master Dancers is associated with a group of dance clubs known
collectively as “The Family” located in Cleveland, Toledo, Youngstown,
Ohio, Detroit, MI. and Pittsburgh, PA.
